Counselling is a way of exploring whatever concerns you. It can help you find out how to manage your life in a more fulfilling way and maximise your potential. This may mean looking at the problem in a different way, discovering solutions or simply talking, which can help clarify your thoughts and feelings so that you feel more able to live life the way you want to.
My name is Penny Saunders; I am married with a grown up son and daughter. I initially trained to teach deaf children and then went on to train as a counsellor and supervisor.
After my initial training with Aberdeen Counselling and Information service I became a staff counsellor and desk worker with them. Since 1992 I have been counselling full time in a higher education setting as well as doing some employee assisted counselling work until 2003. Since 2003 I have expanded my EAP work and built up a private practice, which includes seven years of supervising other counsellors. I continue to work one day a week with students and see private clients and supervisees.
I have a post graduate Diploma in Counselling from Persona Training and Development and a Certificate in Counselling Supervision from Person Centred Therapy, Scotland.
I am an accredited and registered practitioner with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and a member of the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors with twenty years of counselling experience.
I have an Arts degree from Aberdeen university and a certificate for Teachers of the Deaf from Manchester University. Over the years I have attended a wide variety of workshops and training events so that I can enhance my clients understanding of themselves, sort through their issues and solve their problems.
